Ground beetles (family Carabidae) include many dark and cryptic species, but also the colorful Tiger Beetles and charismatic Bombardier Beetles. Tiger Beetles are ferocious hunters -- their long legs help them run fast to capture prey. Even the Tiger Beetle larvae are predatory! The Essig Museum is set to launch a new initiative, in collaboration with over a dozen other institutions, to database and map all species of Carabidae across North America.

Check out what we already have in the database for Tiger Beetles.
